Abstract:
Kim Xu has a diverse experience within IBM. She joined IBM in New York in 2002, and took a variety of roles from global headquarter to Asia Pacific, then to Greater China Group.
In 2009, Kim was selected to be the executive assistant to the then chairman of GCG, Mr. Henry Chow. Because of her outstanding performance, she was asked to become executive assistant to Mr DC Chien, the new Chairman & CEO of IBM GCG.
In 2009, Kim got appointed to become Director of Sales Operations of Greater China Group, and had been leading the team for 3 years. During her tenure, GCG grew consecutively for 10 quarters. She also oversaw the transformation of Sales Operations function towards a global COE (center-ofexcellence) model. 3 global operation centers got established in China.
Next, Kim got promoted to be the head of Strategy, where she was in charge of both the design and execution of IBM strategy. During her tenure, IBM initiated Technology Partnership with China, which is viewed as a strategic shift from “Made for China” to “Made with China”.
Kim Xu is currently the Chief Digital Officer & Vice President of Digital Sales for IBM Greater China Group, an important leadership role for IBM’s transformation. Kim got appointed as IBM’s 1st CDO globally.
Prior to IBM, Kim worked briefly at a start-up company in New York as the business development lead. She supported the founder and management team to complete a cross-border acquisition, which was a key milestone of the company.
Kim received her undergraduate degree in Economics from Fudan University and graduated with honor from the MBA school at University of Rochester. She currently sits on the global alumni board of Fudan Economics School.
Kim is the Executive Sponsor for IBM Diversity Program at Greater China Group, and Community Leader of Global Digital Sales Female Leadership Program.
